4- Month Comedy Career Coaching & Support

This 4-month coaching container is for solo comedy performers, looking for a place to be supported in the development of their comedy career and craft.

Being a solo comedy performer can be a lonely and demanding vocation. It requires high creative output, self-expression and skill, combined with the stamina to keep going when the industry gets hard and self-belief may be low. A solo comedy career (or serious comedy hobby) can lack the camaraderie and teamwork of other professions. Many comedians quit, not because they don’t have the talent, but because they lack the background support they need for their comedy career and confidence to thrive.

This is where this unique coaching offering aims to offer support.

What you will receive:

Depending on your unique needs and wishes, sessions may include the following…

  • A confidential & professional space to be heard and held in expressing all of your thoughts & feelings about the comedy industry and your place in it.

  • A space to talk through ideas for material you would like to try, or deconstruct how something you tried on stage went.

  • A trained coach who can support you with rewriting limiting beliefs held in your subconscious about what is possible for you creatively and as an artist.

  • A place to visualise and strategise about your short, medium and long term goals in comedy.

  • A place to create structures and accountability for booking in future shows and gigs.

  • A nervous system and trauma informed space that can support you to work within, and expand your capacity, for being seen, taking up space and being successful without burning out.

  • A space to connect with your deeper ‘why’ and purpose for making comedy.

  • 12x 1hr 1:1 sessions online (zoom) 3x per month, that are completely dedicated to you.

Who is this for:

  • Comedy performers at the beginning of their career or hobby who are feeling daunted or overwhelmed by their dream of being a comedian, and would like a place to go to feel supported.

  • Comedians who are some years into their career, but feel stuck at a certain level, a bit disillusioned or would love to get to the next level.

  • Performers who struggle with self doubt

  • Performers who would like a dedicated place to bring all of their thoughts and concerns about their comedy career.

  • Those who would like support with staying on task and with accountability for taking action steps.

  • People of any age (16+), race, sexuality or gender who are seriously interested in performing comedy.

About the coach:

Nicola Cross is uniquely placed to be able to support comedy performers emotionally, creatively and logistically. Her professional involvement with comedy began in her early 20s, working as a junior producer for BBC Comedy, both in the TV department and for their live Edinburgh shows.

Following this, Nicola herself trained for two years at Ecole Phillippe Gaulier and subsequently toured solo character comedy shows around European festivals, as well as regularly gigging on the London circuit with clown, character comedy and straight stand up sets. Nicola is currently heavily involved with improv comedy and lightly gigs solo stand up. She has self produced a large number of shows at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Post comedy career, Nicola trained in both Integrative Arts Psychotherapy and Transpersonal Psychology. She is extensively trained in trauma and the nervous system. Her work covers creative visualisation, working with inner parts and supporting the body to have more capacity.

If you want somebody who understands comedy as an art form, an industry, and can support the emotional, physical, creative and logistical demands of this vocation, Nicola might be the coach for you.

Why I created this offering:

“As somebody who has been around the comedy industry for most of my adult life, I understand both how rewarding and how challenging it can be. When I would bring my performer concerns to something like therapy, I wouldn’t feel fully met in the specifics of what I was talking about, or my needs around it. I wanted to create a coaching container where comedians could feel understood in the specifics of their industry, whilst feeling emotionally safe to bring parts that might ordinarily fit in a therapeutic setting, like inner child work or feelings of self-doubt. This coaching offering is intended as a combination of professional support and personal development.” - Nicola
